Sewing for 24 hours straight was not my *best* idea. đź«
“Sometimes you have one of those Ideas that you just know is terrible, but you just can’t stop thinking about it. So against your better judgement, you do it anyway.
This is why, despite my staunch resolution to never pull all-nighters, I decided it would be worth doing exactly that. For Entertainment, you see.
Despite the many obvious challenges faced throughout the day, perhaps the most potent challenge—which isn’t captured on video (for obvious reasons)—was the videography itself. It’s no secret that sewing takes 2-3x as long when camera angles and exposure settings and story pacing are involved; and with the sewing itself waxing into hours-long tasks as I fought sleep in the wee hours, you might imagine the disastrous footage that resulted.
Or in some cases—didn’t result.
There are definitely a selection of those late-night clips that had to be re-shot, whether for abysmal quality (adjusting the tripod is just so much effort at 3am!) or simply forgetting to turn the camera on entirely. Upon reviewing the footage the next day, there were such huge gaps in the story that I knew this “one-day shoot” was about to take up a lot more than that…and I proceeded to set an alarm for 4AM the following day to do it all again. On the bright side, sewing by sunrise is never an unwelcome experience.
So much for Rule No. 1!”
